We’re back behind the microphones to bring you the first in a brand new series of Obscurecast! Join us as we rant and rave about all things Warcraft.
We also launch our Competition With No Name And No Prizes (Yet). We both think that the voice acting for most Gilneans is dire, and we reckon that the listeners can do better! So we want you to record in your best Gilnean accent any line of dialogue you like. It can be quest text, an emote or something completely random. It’s entirely up to you. Just record it as an MP3 and send it to us.
We also share a bit more about the news behind joining Dawnforge Productions, why we did it and what we hope to be able to do as a result. If you have any questions, feel free to drop us a line.
Also in this week’s show:
- Opinions on Cataclysm so far
- Patch 4.0.6 and our hopes for 4.1 and beyond
- Raiding content cleared
As always, if you want to contact us about anything on the podcast you can mail us at our new mail address at bag@obscurecast.com.
Don’t forget that we’re also interested in getting more segment bumpers! If you feel like introducing our Week In Warcraft, the News, This Week’s Obscurity or just giving a shout out to your blog, guild or anything WoW related, just record an MP3 and email it to us!
Intro music was Decimal Places by I Concur.

Good to hear you are back.
Missing ‘This Weeks Obscurity’ though. I like it when something a bit less newsy gets discussed.
We kind of got so ranty/tangental in our ‘what have we been doing this week’ that we largely missed both the news and the obscurity
Pewter recently posted..DPS trinkets for elemental shaman

Just listening to the podcast, and I find the talk about the general malaise in the game interesting. I think it is mostly evident at endgame, as I can’t work up the motivation to spend time on any of my 80+ level characters.
I think the problem that people are having, possibly without really knowing it themselves, is that getting to endgame from 80 took a blink of an eye, even just casually questing. Then once you get to endgame, the game is essentially just a continuation of the dungeon grind that Wrath became.
My opinion is an unpopular one, even among my burned-out friends, but I think the Looking-for-Dungeon tool needs to go away, as does the point system. It has created a mentality that the only way play the game is to earn X points per hour, and if you’re not doing it the most efficient way you are wrong. The PUG aspect of the game has continued to become increasingly hostile and unforgiving because of this attitude that has been cultivated. I also see that within guilds, members are becoming increasingly unhelpful to each other, because if it isn’t beneficial to them, they don’t want to “waste” the time on it.
I could go on forever about my thoughts on this, but I’ll leave it there. Good to see you guys back!
Welcome to Dawnforge, guys!
The chocolate aerosol sounds fabulous.
